Previously, St. John’s, like most nursing homes, used a team of people to help care for a large number of residents. We have found that this leads to closer connections between residents and those who care for them as well as a more family-like atmosphere, all of which enhances care. The nearby city of Utica, however, has average nursing home costs for a semiprivate room that are $2,799 cheaper than Rochester’s.

I haven’t had a whole lot of interaction there besides that. Nursing staff was professional and timely with providing care to my mom. The dietician was helpful in picking out alternate food options for the fish she didn’t like.
They’re doing an excellent job with the food, too. Jewish Home of Rochester fits my husband’s level of care, so it is good. It is a pretty nice community, and it is clean. In terms of value for the money, it is very expensive. The people that are there are very attentive to the families and the residents. Within our large Rochester, NY, campus, we’ve created a series of small homes that blend the experience of at-home living with the high level of care that we’ve always offered.
